I came across this image while perusing thedesigninspiration.com. It immediately caught my eye. I'm assuming that it was the visual flow of the image that pulled me in, but I'm typically a sucker for anything involving somewhat natural elements.
While the tree elements themselves are captured well, it's obviously not just a tree. I'm not sure exactly what I'd classify it as, but the image has a feeling of life and movement to it that make the interpretation of this creature so effective. Furthermore, the textures of everything- the bark, the earth beneath the creature- are captured so nicely.
I'm also drawn to images that use a specific color palette, rather than an overwhelming amount of colors. This image has a very muted and earthy feel to it. The only bits of color are blurred leaves, but the green lends to the natural feel of the subject matter. It looks barren, but there is just a bit of green to add life.

When I saw this image I thought of some type of fairy or creature being the tree, dancing in the breeze. The whole piece is beautiful and has a great composition that will make its viewer come up with their own story.

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of Daphne, who was pursued by Apollo. Unfortunately for Apollo, Daphne had pledged herself to Artemis, the goddess of chastity. To protect her from Apollo, Artemis transformed Daphne into a laurel tree. I the hands at the roots of the tree are interesting. Is the main figure escaping from the hands? Or are the hands releasing her? I like this piece a lot.
