Axel Pfaender

Axel is a graphic designer/art director and I am really digging his style. His illustrations to me look magnificent. I have to say it is of work that inspires me. Very abstract illustration with mostly thinner lines. He uses a lot of shadows or silhouettes to define depth or form of an object and keeps outline line to a minimum unless they are absoloutely unavoidable because of the chosen object to be illustrared. His work seems obvious to the eye because most of the object we see in the illustrations of his we realize. But that can be a bad and a good thing by the way I see it. Good because we see the object and we realize what it is reprensting and we try to figure out connect with the piece of work. Bad because people can see a familiar object and instantly become bored with it and look away from the piece. But Axel Pfaender does a great job of grabbing your attention and keeping you focused by modifying/abstracting familiar objects within his work. Therefore always keeping you entertained wanting to find more about the illustration.
