Week 6 - Peter Max

So I just recently heard about Peter Max earlier this week in another class and decided to look more into his work on the internet. I'm sooo happy I did! I love his poster designs. Turns out he was a really big artist in the 60's & 70's. This piece called Mexico was made in 1970 and it's a silkscreen print. It's probably obvious why I like it lol, I'm loving the colors. I gravitate to a lot of artwork that's bright and colorful. It looks fun and I like the way Max shows repetition in this print. There's a face within another face within another face and they're surrounding by flowers. Overall this has a 70's feel to it and that's what I'm really into!

  2. Wow the colors in this just makes me imagine being in some old hippie van with black lights, in a good way though.

  4. I didn't see the faces at first either. Having a somewhat hidden element like that makes a piece way more interesting, I think.
