Zdzisław Beksiński, romantic, gothic, whatever
Beksinski was a painter who had an absurdly good eye for detail and realism for someone who underwent no formal training whatsoever. I've seen many of his paintings pop up here and there and I'm always blown away by them. They manage to chill me despite being purposefully heavily desensitized by the internet. Many of his images, without any given context can insight some strange human fear, these creatures are not of any lore and I have no idea what is happening here, but I know I am afraid of this unknown world. Oh and he's polish by the way.

This is really creepy mainly because of the dark colors and details relating to the human skeleton.
ReplyDeleteThe shading in all of this really bring it to life. The mutes colors and the one really warm tone in the middle just draws your eye in and then you start to see small little creepy details, so sick.
ReplyDeleteNot knowing the figures in the painting makes it very intriguing as well as the darkness of the painting juxtaposed to the orange and yellow in the painting.
ReplyDeleteSpooooooky! The muted colors and detail makes this image very creepy. As I look at it, I see small faces in random details in the cloth. I keep wondering if this was done on purpose or if I'm just seeing things because it's a freaky image. And what's up with that weird bird thing riding the horse?
ReplyDeleteI love the eerie unknown vibe of this picture. It reminds me of some kind of future holocaust on earth. The attention to detail on the monstrous figures, along with the ghostly child, are captivating. I enjoy this style very much.
ReplyDeleteI wish this was higher res so I could see more of those creepy details and silvery threads that the artist focused so much on.
