This piece is titled "Structured Living" by illustrator/painter Andre Jolicoeur. Many of his paintings have a very abstract quality to them and at times resemble a paper cut out. I like how he painted the buildings as if they were part of a structural mass. In ways it resembles the favelas in South America. Although favelas are pretty crappy places the imagery of the towering buildings works really well. Also the line value is great.
Someone should construct this image with cardboard. This picture looks like it would make a wonderful sculpture.
ReplyDeleteIs it all painted on the same surface? It really does look like cut out objects put together. It's impressive that he achieved such a look with just paint.
